San Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson just caught another body in tonight’s match up against the Boston Celtics. After being held to just 14 points in the first quarter, the Celtics had an early surge in the second quarter to bring them as close as seven down. San Antonio was able to regain control of the game and momentum with this one-handed flush by Johnson.

On the play, Spurs guard Derrick White takes the ball from the top of the key and drives inside. As his penetration is cut off, Johnson curls over from the left-wing taking the short bounce pass from White. And with a power dribble, Johnson goes up strong over Grant Williams.

San Antonio took a 15-point lead into halftime. m

The Spurs so far tonight

After three quarters of play, the Spurs lead 70-63, and Johnson is putting in some quality minutes. He currently has 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting and is 1 of 3 from beyond the arc. The Spurs forward also has a double-double with 10 rebounds. The Spurs’ scoring is being paced by point guard Dejounte Murray, who has 16 points on 7 of 15 shooting.

While the Spurs have had plenty of centralizing play during this season, it has yielded very little in the win column. Currently on the season, the Spurs are 4-13, which is the second-worst start in franchise history. And right now, they are currently on a 6-game losing streak.

In Friday’s game against Boston San Antonio’s defense has been up to the task of slowing down the Celtics All-Star duo in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Brown is shooting 6 of 13 for 16 points. Tatum, on the other hand, is having a rough night. He’s 4 of 14 from the field and 0 of 3 from the 3-point line. If the Spurs can continue to play solid defense and get buckets of their own from their young core, they can finish the night plus-one in the win column.
