Scott Satterfield is leaving Louisville for Cincinnati.

Satterfield confirmed the news to his Cardinals staff Monday morning, sources tell On3.

He told his coaches the deal came together “very fast.”

Satterfield will be the replacement for Luke Fickell, who left the Bearcats to take the Wisconsin head coaching job November 27.

Satterfield, who had been on the hot seat at Louisville, was 25-24 in four seasons with the Cardinals, including 7-5 this season. Prior to Louisville, Satterfield posted a 51-24 mark in six seasons as the head coach at Appalachian State, including a 10-2 record in 2018.

Kent State’s Sean Lewis and Buffalo’s Maurice Linguist had been among the other coaches under consideration for the Cincinnati opening.

The Satterfield-Cincinnati news was first reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer.
