Scottie Scheffler sets PGA record following near-win at the U.S. Open
Scottie Scheffler has had quite the 2021-2022 season on the PGA Tour. In 19 events this season, he’s finished in the Top-10 nine times and won four tournaments altogether. That includes the 2022 Masters, where he won his first green jacket.
Before February of this year, Scheffler didn’t even have a win on his record since joining the Tour in 2020. Now, the Texas-alum pairs his winning ways this season with the most profitable year in PGA history.
Scheffler set the money earned record by over $850,000 more than Jordan Speith’s previous record. Spieth set that record during the season that he also won his first Master’s.
Scheffler’s latest finish was tied for second with Will Zalatoris in this weekend’s U.S. Open. He finished -5 through his four rounds, which wasn’t enough to eke out Matt Fitzpatrick at -6 for the victory.
With nine more events ahead of the FedExCup Playoffs and TOUR Championship in August, Scheffler will only add to his record if he keeps up his winning ways as the season winds down.

LOOK: NBC spoils important Scottie Scheffler putt at US Open
Scottie Scheffler is doing Scottie Scheffler things, leading the charge in the final round of the US Open at The Country Club in Brookline, MA. Although he entered the day off the lead, the former Texas golfer has found himself at the top of the leaderboard halfway through his round.
NBC is having a tough time with their broadcast and ended up spoiling the moment Scheffler went on to take the lead. As he was lining up for a birdie putt at the fifth hole, NBC cut away to another shot on a different hole. During that time, Scheffler made the putt, and the leaderboard graphic updated itself.
Shortly after, NBC showed Scheffler actually making the putt, ruining the suspense of the moment and leaving some fans upset.
