SEC announces 2023 Football Legends class to be honored during conference title game
The SEC has announced its 2023 SEC Football Legends class, a group of former college football standouts who will be honored at the SEC Championship Game in December.
The class will be honored at the College Football Hall of Fame on Dec. 1 in Atlanta, then will be recognized before the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 2.
The 2023 SEC Football Legends class is a who’s who of famous former Southeastern Conference stars, from Ole Miss linebacker Patrick Willis to South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore.
Lattimore is one of two highly productive running backs on this year’s list of members, along with former Georgia superstar Knowshown Moreno. Both put together remarkable playing careers with a lot of production, though in varying career lengths.
Moreno was at Georgia for only two years after redshirting in his first year on campus. He ran for 2,734 yards and 30 touchdowns, while also recording 53 catches for 645 yards and two touchdowns.
Lattimore was around for an extra year, getting three full playing seasons in at Carolina before heading to the next level. He ran for 2,677 yards and 38 touchdowns, also adding 74 catches for 767 yards and three scores.
They weren’t the only highly productive offensive players.
Former Florida quarterback Shane Matthews had a huge hand in turning around the Florida program at the beginning of the Steve Spurrier era. He helped guide the Gators to a conference championship in 1991, while putting up impressive passing numbers.

Matthews finished his career 722-of-1202 passing for 9,287 yards, with 74 touchdowns and 46 interceptions.
While those are some of the offensive stars in the 2023 SEC Football Legends class, Willis is the clear hammer defensively. He was a missile in the middle for Ole Miss, one of the true enforcers in the game.
Willis recorded a total of 355 tackles while with the Rebels from 2003-06.
In any case, there are plenty of excellent players in this year’s class. You can view the complete 2023 SEC Football Legends class below.
