SEC announces Players of the Week following Week 2 of college football
After an action-packed Week 2 of college football in the SEC, the league announced on Monday its Players of the Week, including honors for the best offensive, defensive and special teams players — as well as standouts among freshmen and on the offensive and defensive lines.
You can check the winners out right here:
Offensive Player of the Week: Spencer Rattler (QB, South Carolina)
Co-Defensive Players of the Week: Jett Johnson (LB, Mississippi State), Eugene Asante (LB, Auburn)
Special Teams Player of the Week: Caden Davis (K, Ole Miss)
Offensive lineman of the Week: Eli Cox (IOL, Kentucky)
Co-Defensive Linemen of the Week: Nyles Gaddy (DL, Missouri), Trajan Jeffcoat (DL, Arkansas)
Freshman of the Week: London Humphreys (WR, Vanderbilt)
Leading the way, Rattler put on a heck of a show in the limited time he actually did play against Furman. He threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns and put the Gamecocks so far ahead in the early going that they were able to cycle through four other QBs the rest of the way.
The other SEC offensive players recognized were Kentucky offensive lineman Eli Cox, a stalwart guy on the interior who was strong in the win over Eastern Kentucky — as well as rookie Vandy wideout London Humphreys, who caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown in the loss to Wake Forest.

The final player recognized was the Ole Miss place kicker, Caden Davis, who accomplished the following stats in the team’s win over Tulane.
