The 2024 SEC Championship Game is between Georgia and Texas in Atlanta next Saturday following Week 14 of college football.

Georgia already clinched its spot in the SEC Championship and won an eight-overtime thriller Friday night over Georgia Tech to finish 10-2. Meanwhile, Texas won a much hyped rivalry game played for the first time since 2011.

But now, it’s down to two teams for all the marbles in the SEC Championship and a first round bye in the College Football Playoff.

A lot went into Georgia making the SEC Championship Game with a bang. Sure, they clinched a spot in Atlanta, but didn’t want to limp into the game with three losses and losing to rival Georgia Tech.

Eventually, the Bulldogs outlasted the Yellow Jackets in eight overtimes.

After the game, ESPN’s Katie George asked Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart if he’d ever experienced anything like that before.

“No, I have not,” Smart said. “They got a really good football team, really physical football team, and they really out-physicaled us tonight. Their quarterback is a warrior, and I have so much respect for the way Brent and them play. But, our kids, they are resilient. They never quit. Never say die. It was sloppy. These fans stayed with us. It’s a great game… We’re all out of two-point plays.”

Georgia and Georgia Tech were one overtime away from tying the record for most OTs in a single game. Nonetheless, Georgia running back Nate Frazier prevented the Bulldogs from making even more history, punching in a two-point conversion to give his team the win.

It was a comeback effort for the Bulldogs, who trailed Georgia Tech 20-6 early in the fourth quarter. Georgia ultimately rattled off 21 points in the fourth quarter, forcing the game to enter overtime.
