Georgia and Texas will face off in a top-5 showdown Saturday afternoon in the SEC Championship Game. A top-four spot in the College Football Playoff and a fist-round bye in the CFP is on the line.

The two teams previously played in Austin back in October, with the Bulldogs earning a 30-15 victory over the then-No. 1-ranked Longhorns. Now, they’ll take the field once again with a chance to become the SEC champion.

Both teams are dealing with some injuries ahead of the matchup. Georgia defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye has already been ruled out for the SEC Championship, as have Texas DB Derek Wiliams Jr. and running backs CJ Baxter, Christian Clark and Velton Gardner.

Georgia and Texas also have some players who could or could not play in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game, depending on how the week unfolds. Here are the updated Thursday injury reports for Texas and Georgia ahead of the SEC Championship.

Texas

One of the biggest challenges for Georgia on Saturday will be stopping Texas’ offense. The Longhorns rank No. 14 in the nation in total offense, averaging 450.1 yards, and No. 21 in scoring with 34.8 points per game.

Of course, there’s also the possibility Steve Sarkisian throws both quarterbacks into the game. Quinn Ewers is the starter, but Arch Manning came in with a goal-line package last week against Texas A&M, which could indicate his usage in the SEC title game. Georgia will be ready, though.

“I think first and foremost, they come from a great program,” Bulldogs defensive back Dan Jackson said. “They’re both really smart guys. Nobody’s the exact same. We’re definitely going to be watching a lot of film this week, like we have in the past. We’re just going to be ready for both of them. They’re both great athletes.”
