SEC Football Players of the Week revealed following Week 8
After a tremendous Week 8 of SEC football featuring some fascinating results, the SEC Football Players of the Week have been revealed by the conference.
Check out the athletes than were more than deserving of the honor below, featuring three members of the LSU Tigers, who ruined the Ole Miss Rebels‘ perfect season last weekend.

Offensive — QB Jayden Daniels, LSU Tigers
Daniels passed for two touchdowns against the Rebels, and added three more scores for the Tigers with his legs. Additionally, the LSU quarterback completed 21-of-28 passes for 248 yards, amassing 121 rushing yards and becoming first quarterback in program history to rush for 100 yards and pass for 200 yards in same game twice in one season.
Defensive — DB Darius Rush, South Carolina Gamecocks
In South Carolina’s first victory over Texas A&M, Rush amassed a game-high eight tackles, including six solo stops, per the SEC. The defensive back also added an interception and forced fumble, which set him apart from the pack.
Special Teams — KR Xavier Legette, South Carolina Gamecocks
“Legette set the tone for the game by returning the opening kick 100 yards for a touchdown, giving the Gamecocks a lead they would not relinquish in a 30-24 upset win over Texas A&M,” wrote the SEC.

Freshman — WR Luther Burden III, Missouri Tigers & LB Harold Perkins, LSU Tigers
In Saturday’s victory over Vanderbilt, Burden scored both Missouri touchdowns, while Perkins had a monster day against the Rebels, amassing five tackles, a sack for a 6-yard loss and a pass breakup with two QB hurries.
Offensive Line — OG Jerome Carvin, Tennessee Volunteers
Carvin kept UT Martin defenders at bay throughout the Volunteers’ drubbing of their opponent, leading to 65 points in what was his 37th career start for the program.
Defensive Line — DT Mekhi Wingo, LSU Tigers
Wingo played a huge role in defeating Ole Miss, recording seven tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and two pass deflections in the victory.
