SEC names Football Players of the Week after Week 8

The SEC has named their Football Players of the Week following the action that took place this past weekend in Week 8.

Over the weekend that was, the conference took center stage due to matchups like Alabama at Tennessee, and Georgia at Texas. When the dust settled, their players adorned the SEC Football Players of the Week, along with some other standout performances. Check out the selections below.

First, Dylan Sampson leads the way as the choice on offense from the SEC. The running back led Tennessee’s offense to a 24-17 victory over No. 7 Alabama, rushing for a career-high-tying 139 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns. Both scores came in the second half, and he gained 83 of his 139 yards after contact.

On the other side of the ball, the SEC highlighted Jalon Walker and Nick Emmanwori. Walker delivered a standout defensive performance in Georgia’s win over Texas, recording three sacks for a loss of 23 yards and totaling eight tackles while also recovering a fumble and contributed seven quarterback pressures. Meanwhile, Emmanwori recorded a season-high 11 tackles against Oklahoma, including seven solo stops and a tackle for loss, along with intercepting two passes.

Elsewhere, Mykel Williams seemed to be all over the field during the Bulldogs’ victory over the Longhorns in Week 8. He played a key role in Georgia’s defensive dominance, registering three tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble in the Bulldogs’ victory over Texas, landing him defensive lineman of the week honors in the SEC.

Finally, Jadan Baugh of Florida made a significant impact in his first career start for the Gators, scoring five rushing touchdowns and gaining 106 yards on 22 carries, marking his first 100-yard game. His five touchdowns tied the program record for a single game and set a new mark for the most touchdowns by a Gator in a first career start.
