SEC to reveal 2024 schedule during primetime show on June 14
A scheduling decision is in the for the SEC, at least in the short term. Commissioner Greg Sankey announced the conference would have an eight-game schedule for the 2024 season once Texas and Oklahoma join the league. Sankey admitted there will be conversations about the long-term plan moving forward, as the debate will still rage on.
With the scheduling format set, we can prepare ourselves for the 2024 season. The SEC is going to get the party started nearly a year and a half early with a schedule release show. Planned for June 14 on SEC Network, all 16 members will find out their 2024 opponents but no specific dates will be attached.
“SEC’s 2024 schedule will be announced on June 14 on special primetime show on SEC Network,” Brett McMurphy of The Action Network said on Thursday.
In years past, the SEC has announced the next season’s schedule during the fall. SEC Network did run a special program for the full reveal but for the most part, it was just putting already known opponents onto the calendar.
But on June 14, there is going to be a bit more intrigue. No team will fully know their list of opponents, with the SEC office having some decisions to make over the two weeks. When the primetime show begins to air, there will be a ton of anticipation for the new-look league.

Greg Sankey breaks down how 2024 SEC schedule will be made
One of the aspects of the eight-game schedule people, mainly fans, are against comes when discussing secondary rivalries. Everybody is going to have a main rival — Alabama–Auburn, Texas-Oklahoma, Georgia–Florida, Ole Miss–Mississippi State, etc. But there are quite a few programs that have multiple games that are considered important ones.
Sankey said when comprising the 2024 schedule “expectation of fairness and balance” will be a massive driving force. Also, the SEC will be looking to “honor our traditional rivalries” for the temporary scheduling format.
This means Alabama/Tennessee and Auburn/Georgia fans can likely breathe easy. We are likely to see the return to Texas-Texas A&M as well, bringing back a headed Lone Star State battle.
All will be revealed on June 14, with the SEC Network having the honors. As with most decisions made by the conference, you can expect some hefty debate and most likely, upset people, on the outcome of the 2024 schedule.
