In the first quarter of Saturday’s pivotal game between Ole Miss and Alabama, Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart looked to complete a pass to Dayton Wade on third down. But Wade appeared to collide with Crimson Tide defender DeMarcco Hellams and looked for a pass interference call from the officials.

The officials didn’t call it, meaning Ole Miss had to punt the ball away and give Alabama the ball back. However, even the CBS announcers thought it was obvious pass interference.

Ole Miss is trying to play spoiler on Alabama’s hopes for an SEC West title one week after the Crimson Tide fell to LSU in Death Valley. If Alabama loses Saturday, the Tigers would win the division and punch their ticket to the SEC Championship. A loss would also be the third in four games for the Crimson Tide and likely take them out of the College Football Playoff race.

Ole Miss wide receiver Jordan Watkins leaves game vs. Alabama after getting stepped on

Early in the game against Alabama, Lane Kiffin is down a weapon at wide receiver. Jordan Watkins got stepped on by cornerback Terrion Arnold after a pass fell incomplete from quarterback Jaxson Dart. It seemed to be in the ankle region, staying down on the sideline.

As the CBS broadcast came back from commercial, Watkins was seen being helped off the field by Ole Miss trainers. Whether or not he went into the medical tent is not known.

Watkins has been a key piece for the Rebels this season, having 24 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown. If he is not able to return, Kiffin and the offense will have to rely on other skill position players to step up in a big way.
