Sears was instrumental in the Crimson Tide’s first-ever run to the Final Four, never scoring less than 18 points in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. With a revamped roster, Sears will look to lead Alabama to even greater heights this season as head coach Nate Oats enters his sixth year at the helm of the program.

“When I was in the draft process and I was keeping up and I just saw the roster that the coaching staff put together, and I was like, ‘Yeah, this roster can contend for a national championship,’” Sears said, regarding his decision to return to Alabama. “And I wanted to be part of it.”

The media voted Alabama most likely to win the 2025 SEC Championship. Oats certainly likes his team’s chances.

“We’re gonna try to win it all this year,” Oats said this offseason. “We’re gonna try to add another championship-caliber program in the athletic department here at Alabama because there’s a lot of them and we’re gonna see if we can get (it) done. I think we’ve got a roster that we’re gonna compete for a national championship this year.”
