In the penultimate week of the 2024 regular season, the SEC Championship race has become a whole lot more clear. After the afternoon slate was complete, ABC put together title game scenarios for fans at home.

Alabama, Georgia, and the two Texas schools can still make it to Atlanta. One team not mentioned by ABC is Tennessee. Despite having two losses as other teams, tiebreakers apparently cannot go in favor of the Volunteers. While they can still compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff, the SEC championship drought will extend another year.

At the time of posting, the SEC’s primetime games have kicked off. Two of the teams alive to make the conference championship are in action, only adding to the drama. You can check out all the scenarios below.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Wins out & Missouri to win once

One of these has already been accomplished, as Missouri took down Mississippi State in the Saturday afternoon slate. Alabama now controls its own destiny for another trip to Atlanta.

Texas A&M wins out & Alabama loses once

According to the ABC broadcast, Georgia will need Texas A&M to win its final two games plus have Alabama lose at least one more. This would set up for a Georgia-Texas A&M game in the SEC Championship.

Georgia is already done with conference play. Now, a lot of eyes in Athens will be on the SEC’s primetime showdowns.

Texas Longhorns

Win next week at Texas A&M

Steve Sarkisian‘s team has already improved to 10-1, beating Kentucky. Next up is the renewal of an in-state rivalry against Texas A&M, with a whole lot on the line.

If Texas can win in College Station, they will have a chance to win the SEC in their first year. You would have to assume a spot in the College Football Playoff would be secured too.

Texas A&M Aggies

Win Out

Another team that controls its own destiny, Texas A&M is two wins away from Atlanta. But considering the opponents, it might be the toughest route on paper.

The Aggies are on the Plains, needing to battle against Auburn. Then the showdown against Texas where intensity from Kyle Field will be at an all-time high.
