Seth Davis calls out officials for technical foul on Mawot Mag vs. Wisconsin

Seth Davis ripped the officiating in the BYU-Wisconsin on Saturday night, after they dished out a technical foul to the Cougars’ Mawot Mag. He was given the technical for pointing at the video board after a Wisconsin player tripped over his own feet on a drive to the hoop.
“I don’t understand why Mag got a tech from that and I am the ultimate sportsmanship nerd,” Davis griped on his Twitter page.
Wisconsin lost 91-89, but it was still one of the better games of the tournament so far. The Badgers went home in the second round, but it wasn’t without a masterful performance from John Tonje. The Wisconsin star stuffed the stat sheet with 37 points, four assists, and four rebounds in 35 minutes of work.
BYU was up 47-36 at halftime, but the Badgers battled back, outscoring the Cougars 53-44 in the second half. Wisconsin had double digit performances from Steven Crowl (10 points), John Blackwell (21 points), and Max Klesmit (12 points). Blackwell finished with six rebounds and four assists and Tonje had four rebounds and four assists.

Wisconsin finishes their season with a 27-10 overall record. And while they battled valiantly, their season comes to an official close on Saturday night. The NCAA Tournament is not for the weak of heart, and the painful end for the college basketball season came on Saturday evening for the Badgers.
In advancing to the Sweet 16, BYU makes it to their third Sweet Sixteen in program history. Mawot Mag finished with seven points, one rebound, and dished out two assists. Cougars big man Keba Keita finished with 10 points and six rebounds in the winning effort.
Star guard Egor Demin finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists in a pretty spectacular evening for him. The Russian has been one of the more complete players in America for much of the season and he hasn’t disappointed when the lights have been the brightest–in the NCAA Tournament. BYU guard Dawson Baker was ejected for delivering an elbow to the groin of a Wisconsin player.
