Shedeur Sanders calls Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi a hater: ‘I don’t feel like God bless those kind of people’
Rivalries in college football can produce some trash-talking and most times, bulletin board material. Colorado State certainly did its part ahead of the Rocky Mountain Showdown against Colorado. Quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi was in the center of it all, saying the Buffaloes were in for a “rude awakening” and “Instagram followers” would not take them very far.
Well, Colorado went into Fort Collins and took care of business quite comfortably. Shedeur Sanders did not speak much heading into the game but made sure to give Fowler-Nicolosi his thoughts when the two met up on the field afterward. He called the Colorado State quarterback a hater, saying those types of people never succeed in life.
“After the game, I said something to the Colorado State quarterback,” Sanders said on his podcast, 2Legendary. “Because he was talking crazy on social media and he was really doing it for the clicks… I said what I had to say to him because he wasn’t telling the truth in anything he was saying. It felt like a lot of hate, to me, personally. In life, if you’re a hater, you’ll never be able to succeed. Those who hate on people, I don’t feel like God bless those kind of people because it’s bad.”
Sanders expanded, claiming he never understood why Fowler-Nicolosi would make such claims ahead of a game. Fowler-Nicolosi was not alone, with comments being made next to wide receiver Troy Horton as well.
“Everybody’s path is different,” Sanders said. “Everybody has a different route. Jealousy and envy is the root of all evil. So, I’m not ever going to be a hater towards anybody. And then he just went online, talking crazy. I never understood that.”

A clip circulated on social media of the postgame interaction between Fowler-Nicolosi and Sanders, with the latter refusing to shake hands. Sanders did not want to interact with the opposing quarterback under any circumstances, presumably because of the pregame message.
Certainly no love between the two, something you may expect in a rivalry matchup. Emotions have been high between these two programs over the past two years, both on and off the field.
The last laugh will wind up going to Sanders as Colorado was able to win the game. He will not face Colorado State again in his college career and the Rams are not on future schedules. Sanders is more than likely heading to the NFL following the 2024 season too.
