Colorado's Potential Game Changer in 2024

One of the bigger transfers in college football this offseason involved the Colorado Buffaloes, with running back Dylan Edwards departing for Kansas State.

But there are no hard feelings between Edwards and at least one of his Colorado peers: quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

“Nah, I never would knock a player for transferring if he feels like that’s best for him,” Sanders said at Big 12 Media Days, according to ESPN Wichita. “That’s my guy at the end of the day, regardless of anything. So if that was the best decision for him, that’s great for him.”

Edwards got off to a flying start for Colorado in 2023 as a true freshman, putting on a show with a four-touchdown performance in an upset of a ranked TCU squad in the season opener.

He showed remarkable ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, making him an every down threat. But his usage tailed off as the season went on.

Dylan Edwards ended up entering the transfer portal following the season.

“I wasn’t surprised. I talked to him just in general,” Sanders said. “I kind of understood where his mind was at and I understand. The thing with me, I’m never a biased guy. If you feel like something is better for you then I’m a friend at the end of the day. I won’t lie to you, I won’t do anything to use you for my own selfish reasons at the end of the day.

“You’ve got to live your life for the next however many years you live. I’m not living nobody else’s life. So if that’s for them, that’s on them. I’m not really too… trying to control nobody else’s life.”

Now Edwards will look to fire up his career for the Wildcats.

Dylan Edwards the missing home run threat

Kansas State has big plans for Edwards if head coach Chris Klieman is to be believed.

The Wildcats head coach is already envisioning the multitude of ways that Edwards can be put to work wearing the purple and white.

“We brought in Dylan Edwards from Colorado, that’s probably the home run threat we were missing,” Klieman said. “Whether it’s in the backfield, out of the backfield, in the return game. I’m excited for Dylan because he gets to come back home. K-State is home for him.”

If Edwards can build on the start of his 2023 campaign at Colorado, Kansas State will be in good shape.

Edwards finished his freshman season in college with 321 yards rushing and one score on the ground, as well as 299 yards receiving and four touchdowns through the air.
