Shedeur Sanders wants to build on father's signature Nike cleats
One of the highlights of making it to the professional ranks, especially if you’re a global star, is the presence of apparel deals. Signature Nike cleats, personalized Adidas kicks, you name it.
And Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders figures to have plenty of deals available to him when he breaks the college ranks. Shoot, he’s already raking via NIL.
But there’s one key question for the up-and-coming young star. What will he do for cleats?
Sanders was put to that very question on the 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders podcast, and he noted that he’d like to build on the signature Nike cleats his father, Deion Sanders, rocked while in the league.

“I would want to build on it. I want to build on it. Have like a different version,” Sanders said. “But I think concept, because I feel like it’s more… like now, like just looking at life and looking at everything, it’s more about generational. It’s more about what could be passed down year after year after year after year rather than everybody starting to think they’re whole new wave and whole new, because there’s no real substance behind it.”
Of course, first Sanders is working on his own legacy on the field. He’s got a long, long, long way to go to catch up with his father, who was one of the best to ever do it.
But he has the stage. All eyes are on Colorado, and Sanders has been hyped as a potential first-round NFL Draft pick.
Achieve that and the signature Nike cleats likely follow. Sanders just wants to make sure everyone knows what they’re getting.
“Everything that’s great has to have a story behind it,” Sanders said. “Every great player has to have a story behind it. So I feel like when it comes to design, anything like that, it always has to have a great story behind it.”

Building on his father’s legacy with the signature Nike cleats is something Sanders seems to relish the prospect of. Perhaps it’s because he’s been granted ample opportunities to advance throughout his life, courtesy of Deion Sanders.
It sure sounds like Sanders wants to leave a similar legacy for his future kids.
“I want to pass down, basically make life as easy, easy, easy as possible,” Sanders explained. “Regardless if he’s going to value that or not, it’s just at the end of the day I feel like it would be for, without him knowing, everything will be exactly how it’s supposed to be. And whenever he’s ready I would say, whenever he understands life then he will have access to it.”
Getting to a place where he can make that all a reality is Sanders’ focus. If signature Nike cleats come with it, great.
For now, Sanders is just focusing on what he can control. It’s how he wants his kids to eventually be molded.
“That’s why I say when he’s ready and fully understands what life is and how life actually is in the real world and stuff, then I feel like he’ll be able to have access to all that,” Sanders said. “But off rip, nah, you can’t. He’s still got to have that same kind of like mentality and kind of like how we grew up, which is be in a nice home but then it’s just like he still have to have a lot of grit to him also. He can’t just go out there being Mr. Nice Guy all the time.”
