Sherrone Moore 'not happy' with Michigan 27-24 win over Minnesota
Sherrone Moore wasn’t too happy with Michigan’s performance Saturday: a 27-24 win over Minnesota in Big Ten play.
Following a 24-3 lead going into the fourth quarter, the Gophers scored 21 points in the final frame, nearly coming all the way back and pulling off the upset. That included an onside kick that was called back due to a penalty, that was certainly questionable.
“Yeah, not very happy with the performance,” Moore said to Jenny Taft on the FOX broadcast. “Yeah, we’ve got a lot to clean up. The kids work so hard to come out here, and I think coaches, players, we got to do a lot of cleaning up to do as a team, as a group, to get better.”
Moore acknowledged that Minnesota had a lot more energy in the second half, particularly down the stretch.
“Yeah, I mean, they came out with a lot of energy, and we didn’t,” Moore said. “And you know, I’ll take that on me, but I think the guys, you know, we obviously won the game, so we’re happy about but we gotta finish better.”
As far as the QB is concerned, Alex Orji didn’t light up the stat sheet and Moore said it was back to the lab to get things fixed.

“You know, he’s got those things he’s got to get better at,” Moore said. “But for us, we got to go back, (and get things fixed) and keep rollin, so, appreciate it.”
Orji finished the game 10-of-18 passing for 86 yards, one touchdown, one interception and 12 rushing yards. Moore loves to emphasize the running game, led by Kalel Mullings Saturday: 24 carries, 111 yards and two touchdowns.
“We just have to finish better honestly,” Mullings said on the broadcast postgame. “We saw it last week. We saw it this week again. And, you know, hats off to Minnesota. They fought all four quarters. Kept pushing us. Thankfully, we were able to come away with a win. But obviously, it’s not the way we like we want to be able to, you know, come out and finish games better in the second half.”
However, with a one dimensional offense and a defense that nearly coughed up a three score lead, things are a little shaky in Ann Arbor.
