Sherrone Moore On Texas Loss, What Needs To Change, Quarterback Situation Michigan Football

Michigan suffered their first loss in over 600 days last weekend and it was a tough one too with a 31-12 defeat to Texas. All the Wolverines can do now is regroup as a team after it.

Sherrone Moore discussed the 19-point home loss to the Longhorns during his press conference to open this week. From here, he said the entire team just must do more in all aspects of the game.

“Yeah, I think the big thing is just everybody doing their job – players, coaches,” said Moore. “We all got to be better together.

“That was the message to everybody after the game,” Moore continued. “You know, we’re not going to point fingers and say it was this person, this person. Collectively, we’ve got to be better as a whole group, whole unit – offense, defense, special teams.”

However, it’s also more than that. Michigan can play as hard as they want too but, versus a top opponent like they have at least three more games against on the schedule, they have to be as thorough as they are determined.

“Just doing the little things and straining because the guys played hard but you’ve got to play with detail when you play teams like that,” said Moore.

This Top-10 matchup in The Big House felt over by halftime to some extent with Texas up 24-3. It didn’t get any better for the maize & blue either as they didn’t score their first touchdown until there were under two minutes left on the scoreboard to bring that final margin to 19.

Michigan’s defense didn’t bother the Longhorns too much with them totaling nearly 400 yards of offense. The Wolverines’ own offensive unit wasn’t much better, though, especially with three turnovers committed as they kept having to come off of the field.

This was the first worst outing that the Wolverines have had in some time over almost two years. Now, the response by the defending national champions is a clear one for Moore.

“We’ve got to be better,” said Moore. “We’ve got to be fundamentally better.”

Finebaum: Michigan’s loss to Texas was an ‘inexcusable performance’

In Paul Finebaum’s reaction to Michigan’s loss versus Texas, he says the Wolverines must bounce back after an “inexcusable performance.”

“Absolutely no patience. All panic here,” Finebaum said this week on ESPN’s Get Up. “That was just an inexcusable performance. I realized they were playing Texas, which is a very, very good team if not a great team. But you’re at home, you’re the reigning national champion. Show up at least. I mean, Texas beat them up and down the field on both sides of the line. Truly embarrassing.”

Heather Dinich didn’t hold back either.

“Panic,” Dinich said. “A four-loss team has never been ranked in the selection committee’s Top-12 in the history of ever in the CFP. This is a Michigan team that might lose four or five games. They’ve got WashingtonOregonOhio State. You already lost to Texas. They might lose to USC. Again, you’ve got to play better, be sound up front on both sides of the ball.

“This is the team that couldn’t make a stop on third down. Couldn’t get a third down (conversion). They’ve got to look the part, and they’ve got to really turn it around against some good competition.”
