Shilo Sanders injury: Colorado safety gives intense explanation on realizing he broke his arm
Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders broke his arm during the first half of the Buffs’ Week 2 loss against Nebraska over the weekend.
During his recovery in the hospital post-surgery, Sanders took to social media to explain to fans explain his perspective on the injury, which for the most part looked like a routine tackle made by the veteran DB.
“After I made that tackle, I tried to lift my arm up. It feels like your hands going like this, like your arm goes up, but your hand has no control,” Shilo said while raising his forearm on his left, non-injured arm.
“It feels like it’s somebody else’s hand. It didn’t hurt that bad, it just felt like adrenaline.”

Shilo said that he came to the sideline and casually told medical staff that he broke his arm. They took him to the back for further evaluation, and of course, he did not return. At halftime, his head coach and father Deion Sanders said that it appeared that he may have fractured his arm, so the severity was known almost immediately.
While his injury did require surgery, he’s only expected to miss 2-3 weeks for Colorado. Coach Prime said that his son is a fast healer. That means Shilo is expected to be back for the early portion of their Big 12 schedule, and before they meet a ranked Kansas State team on Oct. 12.
