Huskeronline Breaks Down The Rivalry Game Against Deion Sanders & The Colorado Buffs In Lincoln

When Shilo Sanders left the field in the first half against Nebraska, he was initially ruled as probable. At the time, no specific injury diagnosis was handed out but Sanders did not have his helmet with him. He did not return to the field during the first half.

Heading into the halftime locker room, Deion Sanders gave an update on the defensive back, revealing it’s a broken forearm. The Colorado defensive back is not expected to return to the game, being a huge loss for the Buffaloes.

“I think a broken forearm, something like that,” Sanders said. “So, he won’t be back in.”

Colorado believes they have a great player in Sanders, making him a consistent mainstay in the secondary at safety. Ever since transferring over from Jackson State with his father, Sanders has been in the backend of the defense.

Now, already down 28-0 at halftime against Nebraska, there are likely long-term questions regarding Sanders’ health. Colorado has a rivalry game against Colorado State next week, with Fort Collins playing host. From there, Big 12 play will begin for the Buffaloes.

Deion Sanders looking for better protection in second half vs. Nebraska

Outside of the Sanders injury, a lot is going wrong for Colorado against Nebraska. Most of the issues stem from the line of scrimmage, specifically on the offensive line. Deion Sanders knows the protection needs to be a whole lot better to get the offense going.

A huge task against the Cornhuskers, who have been dominating thus far.

“We got to protect,” Sanders said heading into the locker room. “We’ve got to develop some kind of offense to get the ball down the field. Hats off to the defense, they’re trying to hold in there. We’ve given up some explosions but overall, they’re doing a great job. But we’ve got to find a way to run the ball and protect Shedeur.”
