Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star offensive tackle Bo Hughley has been committed to Georgia since Sept. 23, 2021. However, there has been a lot of chatter recently that the top-100 prospect will flip to Auburn.

According to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, there is another school involved in Hughley’s recruitment: Ohio State. The Buckeyes have a commitment from Hughley’s high-school teammate, four-star tight end Jelani Thurman, and Simmons mentioned that Hughley is considering a visit to Columbus.

“Ohio State’s come in and started some communication with Hughley,” Simmons said. “I think that intrigues him a little bit, but I do like where Georgia’s at for Bo Hughley.”

Simmons believes the defending national champions should not be counted out in Hughley’s recruitment. At the moment, he believes Georgia is in a good position in Hughley’s recruitment, but acknowledged that “nothing’s ever final.” Simmons added that Hughley will be back in Athens this season and has multiple coaches involved in his recruitment, including head coach Kirby Smart, offensive line coach Stacy Searls and running backs coach Dell McGee.

“I still like where Georgia’s at,” Simmons said. “(But) Auburn is the biggest threat and the threat is real, though.”

The Tigers are pushing hard for Hughley, per Simmons He has visited Auburn “five or six times” since his commitment and plans to be in Jordan-Hare Stadium for a visit this fall.

“The buzz has been strong. I think it’s worn off a little bit since that visit in July and that’s probably the way (Hughley) wants it,” Simmons said. “But Auburn’s still right there. He’s connected very well with head coach Bryan Harsin. He’ll be back at Auburn for games this season and I think Auburn’s a real threat to Georgia.”

Bo Hughley On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Bo Hughley:

“Specimen who encapsulates the meaning of the word “prototype” for what an offensive lineman is supposed to look like. Stands over 6-foot-7, 290-plus pounds with nearly a 7-foot wingspan. Has over a 10-inch hand and 36-inch arm and jumped a 20-inch vertical during the spring before his senior season. Primarily lines up at right tackle. Lacks ideal balance and body control. Can play over his toes and tends to lunge and bend at the waist.

Good footwork and foot speed for his size. Threw over 43-feet in the shot put as a sophomore at nearly 300 pounds. Plays with a mean streak and looks to finish his opponents consistently. A high upside prospect due to his unique frame and length but will need to clean up his balance and leverage issues.”

Hughley is the No. 100 overall prospect and No. 9 offensive tackle in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in Georgia.
