Saturday’s Ohio Valley Conference showdown between SIU Edwardsville and Little Rock ended with an incredible game-winner by Ray’Sean Taylor. Little Rock tied the game at 81 after a pair of free throws with 2.1 seconds remaining, leaving SIUE inbounding the ball from full court. Taylor came back to receive the inbounds pass, turning and taking one dribble before heaving a three-quarters court shot from outside of the center-court logo.

Taylor drained the shot — without using the backboard — and gave SIUE the win and their seventh conference win of the year.

Ray’Sean Taylor hits deep game-winner

Taylor’s game-winner would normally be just another great highlight for most teams around the nation as they earn an appearance on a SportsCenter top plays compilation — although Saturday’s shot highlights how great SIUE’s season has been. With their 16th win on the year so far, they have fully eclipsed every other season the program has put together since joining the Ohio Valley Conference.

The OVC is known for several teams making a splash in the NCAA Tournament, such as Murray State and Morehead State. This season, SIUE is making a case for themselves to possibly represent the conference for the first time. 16 wins puts them four wins above the program’s greatest season since joining the conference in 2011, and they currently sit tied for third overall in conference wins.
