Solomon Washington, a 6-foot-6 small forward out of New Orleans (La.) George Washington Carver has committed to Texas A&M basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

Washington is the Aggies’ fourth commitment of the 2022 class. He joins three-star Amaree Abram, Virginia Tech transfer Tyrece Radford, and Mississippi State transfer Jalen Johnson.

Washington ultimately chose Texas A&M over LSU, Alabama, Memphis, and Houston. He will not sign his NLI during the early signing period.

Solomon Washington on his decision

“Just the success that Coach Buzz (Williams) has had with players like me, not highly ranked coming out of high school, but yet, he sees something in them,” Washington said. “I’m going to work hard and I trust him. Coach Buzz came and saw me four weeks straight before I even came on my visit. Every time we talked, he kept it real. He told me how he’s going to use me, and the minutes I would play and everything.”

What can Washington bring to the Aggies?

“Just bringing a lot of energy on the defensive end,” Washington said. “Going out every night and guarding the best player, shutting him down, and being aggressive on the offensive end. Also crashing boards.”

How does Washington describe his game? “Very athletic. I’d say I’m the best defender in the country. I have a high IQ and I can see the floor…get other players involved and I have a nice jump shot.”
