South Carolina, Clemson baseball game postponed due to weather
The South Carolina–Clemson rivalry game has been postponed due to inclement weather. The teams were initially scheduled to face off at 4 p.m. ET on Friday.
The game has not yet been rescheduled. Luckily for fans, the heated rivals have two more games against each other this weekend. On Saturday, No. 19 South Carolina will square off against No. 10 Clemson at 4 p.m. ET at Segra Park.
The Palmetto rivalry is rich with history. The two programs have played 333 times, dating back to 1899. South Carolina and Clemson have met at least once every year since 1945, with the exception of 1984. South Carolina went 2-1 against the Tigers last season.
South Carolina coaches and players break down the rivalry
South Carolina head coach Mark Kingston is ready to go head-to-head against Clemson once again.
“I think a lot of people nationally love it,” Kingston said. “You’re going to see two highly rated teams with storied traditions. You’re going to see some of the best players in the country compete in three venues in two cities. But it’s just everything you want. It’s high competition, it’s big fan bases, it’s a rivalry. It’s everything you’re looking for.”
He isn’t the only one excited for the highly-anticipated Top-25 matchup.
“They’re a very talented team, top 10 in the country. And I feel like we’ve got to go in there and prepare like an SEC school because they are very respected and very talented over there,” South Carolina sophomore Ethan Petry said.

Clemson is 7-1 this season. However, its sole loss was an 18-1 stunning blowout at the hands of Kennesaw State. South Carolina right-handed pitcher Roman Kimball isn’t letting Clemson’s one underwhelming performance distract him from what it will take to win.
“Obviously, they have a lot of talented players, and Clemson’s always a really good team year in and year out,” Kimball said. “So just treat them like everybody else, go out there and prepare the same way we always do.
“Obviously, we have a little bit more intensity, a little bit more fire because it is a little bit of a rivalry. So we’re just going to go out there and we’re going to prepare the same way and go out there and hopefully hit some home or strike some guys out and have some fun.”
The teams will not play a double-header this weekend but instead will reschedule the postponed game for a later date.
