LaNorris Sellers injury: South Carolina QB exits to locker room early before halftime
South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers left the field a minute or two early ahead of halftime against LSU, following a tackle that seemed to impact his lower leg.
Sellers initially stayed down on the turf after being tackled, favoring his lower leg. Coach Shane Beamer said he was dealing with an ankle injury.
“It doesn’t help, but we got confidence in Robby Ashford and Davis Beville,” Beamer told ABC sideline reporter Holly Rowe. “You know (Sellers has) got a little bit of an ankle, we’ll go in there and look at it and see where we are.”
The play occurred late in the second quarter, with South Carolina pushing for a final score before the half. LSU linebacker Greg Penn III got pressure from the inside, forcing LaNorris Sellers to step up in the pocket.

As he did so, defensive end Bradyn Swinson crashed down from the edge and wrapped him up around the legs, landing on the ankle with his full force.
Sellers immediately reached for the ankle. He took a minute and then limped off the field, over toward the team bench with a trainer.
After testing the ankle for a minute or two, Sellers decided to head to the locker room early with the team trainer. That left backup quarterback Robby Ashford on the field for the final play of the half.

Ashford took a 3-yard sack to knock the team out of long field goal range. The clock ticked down to zeros, with South Carolina leading 24-16 at the half.
It’s worth noting that LaNorris Sellers also briefly left the field for last week’s game against Kentucky, only to return and put together an excellent second half. So there’s still a considerable amount to learn about his injury after the break.
In any case, South Carolina had put together a pretty outstanding first half. The Gamecocks jumped out to an early 17-0 lead on the Tigers before giving some of it back.
But the ground game was proving extremely available for South Carolina. The Gamecocks ran for 153 yards in the first half, averaging 7.0 yards per carry. South Carolina outgained LSU 265-169 in the opening 30 minutes.
