Steve Spurrier takes jab at Michigan, sign-stealing scandal
If you give Steve Spurrier a microphone, it’s safe to assume something entertaining is going to come from him. Nobody in college football loved taking jabs at teams more than to him. Most times, it involved his rivals in the SEC but on Saturday, he decided to produce a hilarious. line about the Michigan sign-stealing scandal.
South Carolina brought a few old teams back to Columbia on Saturday for their game against Jacksonville State. From 2010-2013, Spurrier led the program to great heights and even played in a game everyone will remember. The Outback Bowl against Michigan in 2013, mostly known for the hit Jadeveon Clowney had in the backfield.
Well, Spurrier was talking about the game and had to pop a joke after recent events in Ann Arbor.
“We made sure they weren’t getting our signals,” Spurrier said.
Now, Jim Harbaugh — nor Connor Stalions — was anywhere near the Michigan program during the 2013 Outback Bowl. In fact, Harbaugh was in the midst of another great run in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. His team eventually lost in the NFC Championship.
Two seasons later, Harbaugh made the jump to college football and began his run with Michigan. He has never faced off against Steve Spurrier in his career.
Of course, it was just a joke from the Head Ball Coach. Just ask Georgia, Florida State, or Tennessee fans about his joking around, as they have been on the receiving end of a lot of them.

Jim Harbaugh speaks following Purdue win on Big Ten meeting
Michigan might be rolling on the field, earning another huge win on Saturday night against Purdue. But the story surrounding the program remains off the field with the sign-stealing investigation. Head coach Jim Harbaugh once again had to face questions about the situation but with some new information being revealed.
Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti recently met with the Michigan administration and Harbaugh was asked for comment. He decided to talk about the fight in his team instead, once again saying how a ton of them will be playing in the NFL one day.
“I appreciate your question,” Harbaugh began. “Not allowed to talk about it, not talking about him, really want to talk about the game. The guys were such stalwarts. The comments keep coming about why they’re good, how they’re good. They’re just good. If you know football and you watch our guys play, I’ve said it before, there’s 20, 22, 23 guys that’ll be playing on Sundays next year.
“I truly believe there’s another 30, 35 right behind them that’ll return and others that will be developing. It’s just really good players. If you know football, just watch the game, turn on the tape, that’s why they’re so good. They’re good at it.”
