South Carolina transfer EDGE Bangally Kamara receiving ACC, Big Ten interest
South Carolina EDGE Bangally Kamara entered the transfer portal earlier this week as a grad transfer. The former Pitt transfer played in four games with the Gamecocks this season, preserving his redshirt.
The fifth-year player has been in contact with Cal, Michigan State, SMU, Syracuse and Toledo since entering the portal on Tuesday.
In those four games, the Akron (Ohio) native has tallied 9 tackles and a tackle for loss for the South Carolina defense. During the 2024 campaign, he has played a total of 70 snaps, including a season-high 30 in the most recent contest against Ole Miss.
Kamara arrived this offseason as a transfer to Columbia, having spent four seasons previously at Pittsburgh. During his time with the Panthers, the 6-foot-2, 229-pounder played in 48 games and accumulated 120 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks.

A college football player is allowed to play in four games while preserving their redshirt season. Kamara missed South Carolina’s game against Akron and did not redshirt during his time at Pitt. He did use his COVID-19 year of eligibility. He’s now on the open market and looking for a new home for the 2025 season.
Bangally Kamara only played 70 snaps with South Carolina but had the highest defensive grade of any player on the Gamecocks’ roster, according to Pro Football Focus. Head coach Shane Beamer said earlier this week that the pass rushers role was on the rise.
“He was a guy that played a season high in snaps Saturday at linebacker that was going to continue to play more for us moving forward,” Beamer said. “My job is to do what’s best for the team. What was best for the team in my mind is ‘Gally continuing to play and help us try to go beat Alabama this weekend.”
