Spencer Danielson believes Tyler Warren will be first tight end drafted in NFL Draft
Penn State star tight end Tyler Warren can truly do it all. Warren is the leading receiver for the Nittany Lions with nearly 1,100 yards and six touchdowns.
He has also rushed for 197 yards and four touchdowns, has completed three passes (including one for a score) and is an excellent blocker. That is setting some fear into opponents, and rightfully so.
Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson spoke about Tyler Warren ahead of Tuesday’s Fiesta Bowl. There, Danielson explained what it is that makes Warren such a special player.
“I mean, Tyler Warren is elite,” Danielson said. “And that’s not just my opinion. I’m very positive he’s going to be probably the first tight end taken off the board in the NFL Draft, because of that. I mean, he can do it all.”
Danielson added that most really good tight ends have a certain aspect of their game that is a strength. However, Warren is unique in that every aspect of his game is a strength.

“More times than not, when you see a tight end, he’s a really good pass catcher. And you’ve gotta deal with that. Or he’s really dominant and physical at the point of attack in the run game,” Danielson said. “With Tyler Warren, I mean he does it all. I mean he is extremely violent at the point of attack… he can catch every ball. He’s one of their top targets in all downs. And he can play wildcat and throw the ball, too.”
If Boise State is going to beat Penn State and advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals, the Broncos are going to have to slow down Warren.
“I mean, you talk about just an extremely gifted athlete. We’ve gotta know where 44 is at at all times,” Danielson said. “And even when you’ve got him covered, he’s the type of athlete that he’s still not covered, because of how tall he is, how athletic he is. He can go up and get those jump balls any time he wants.”
Tuesday’s Fiesta Bowl is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN. Boise State is the No. 3 seed in the CFP after winning the Mountain West Conference, while Penn State is the No. 6 seed and advanced to the quarterfinals of the playoff by beating SMU in the first round.
