Kettering, Ohio – The 20th annual Flyin’ to the Hoop Invitational is taking place this weekend. A large crowd gathered inside the spacious Trent Arena to take in the action. On3s Jamie Shaw was in the building, along with a handful of other scouts and college coaches.

Here are the standouts and storylines from Day 2 of the 2023 Flyin’ to the Hoop Invitational.

Four-star SF Dailyn Swain (Xavier)

Height/Weight: 6-7/185
High school: Columbus (OH) Africentric
2023 On3 Consensus: No. 82

Xavier signee simply bleeds upside

It is hard not to watch Dailyn Swain and not be intrigued by the upside. Standing at 6-foot-7, the Columbus (OH) Africentric is at his best with the ball in his hands. Blessed with natural length and vertical pop, Swain is a capable scorer who can run a team and make really good reads on the ball.

The four-star finished with a team-high 18 points in the win. He was 7-of-14 from the field while adding 11 rebounds and four assists. The next step in Swain’s development is his consistency in when to take over a game. He has it in him.

Four-star PF Jesse McCullough (2024)

Height/Weight: 6-9/215
High school: Cleveland Heights (OH) Lutheran East
2024 On3 150: No. 91

Junior center proves to be a versatile weapon

Jesse McCullough is one who simply continues to get better. The 6-foot-9 forward has soft touch with range off the catch. He knocked down four threes in this one. But where he really intrigued me was on the defensive end. While he is not an electric shot-blocker, he moves his feet well, plays big, and understands rotations and angles.

McCullough was matched against nationally ranked Lincolnton (NC) Combine Academy in this one; however, with Michigan, Virginia Tech, Dayton, on others in the stands watching, he was able to flex his muscles. McCullough finished with 16 points on 4-of-6 from three in his Flyin’ to the Hoop appearance.

Four-star PG Silas Demary, Jr. (USC)

Height/Weight: 6-5/185
High school: Lincolnton (NC) Combine Academy
2023 On3 Consensus: No. 52

The point guard simply makes good things happen

There was no player in the field who affected the game more across the board than Silas Demary, Jr. The 6-foot-5 point guard dictated the pace on the offensive end, got to every spot he wanted off the bounce, and he kept the opposing team’s best perimeter player in check on defense.

There is an innate toughness he brings to the floor each time he steps on it. The Southern California signee simply gives you a belief his team can win any game. Demary finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the win.

Four-star PG Kyle Greene, Jr (2024)

Height/Weight: 6-2/170
High school: Atlanta (GA) Pace Academy
2024 On3 Consensus: No. 81

Greene Closed the game in impressive fashion

It was an impressive second half for Kyle Greene, Jr. in a matchup against 2023 Michigan signee George Washington, III in this one. The strong-framed 6-foot-2 point guard showcased excellent footwork and a pace that got him to every spot he wanted as he closed out the 62-55 victory.

Greene has a smooth jump shot with long arms, and he finished 5-for-5 from the free throw line. The four-star finished with 25 points, 16 of which came in the second half. He was 9-of-17 from the field with three assists in the win.
