Stanford transfer Oziyah Sellers commits to St. John's

Former Stanford shooting guard Oziyah Sellers has committed to Rick Pitino and St. John’s, per On3’s Joe Tipton. Sellers originally entered the portal on April 1.
Sellers started in all 35 games this season for Stanford. He averaged 13.7 points (45.1% FG, 40.1% 3PT), 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in those appearances. That made him their second-leading scorer behind only one of the leading scorers in the entire sport this season in Maxime Raynaud (20.2 ppg).
That’s after Sellers spent a pair of seasons at USC. He appeared in 58 games and posted 3.4 points per game (44.6% FG, 38.7% 3PT) for the Trojans. However, he transferred last offseason, as one of seven total to enter the portal from their team, after the departure of Andy Enfield.
Sellers, a Castaic, California native, played high school basketball at Southern California Academy. He was a Top-150 prospect there as a three-star prospect in the 2022 cycle. He also rated as a Top-25 SG in the class and a Top-20 recruit out of the state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He’ll now join a Red Storm program fresh off one of its best seasons in history. Having won the Big East championship for the first time in a quarter of a century. This set up a No. 2 seed for St. John’s coming into the NCAA Tournament, but were ultimately upset by John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks in the Round of 32.

The Red Storm would ultimately finish the season with a 31-5 record, including an 18-2 record against Big East competition — winning the regular season by three full games. Sellers has never played in the NCAA Tournament during his three seasons at the collegiate level.
