After Virginia Tech defeated Oklahoma by a score of 14-8 on Saturday, more Super Regional action is on the way Sunday in Blacksburg. The Hokies victory forced a Game 3, which will begin at 1 p.m. ET with the winner advancing to the College World Series.

Although the Sooners started off with a 5-4 victory on Friday to take the series lead, Virginia Tech — the tournament’s No. 4 overall seed — refused to go down in a sweep. The Hokies opened Saturday’s game by scoring the first five runs and never looked back on their way to the win.

Nick Biddison led Virginia Tech at the plate with a pair of home runs and a total of three hits. That included a leadoff homer in the first inning.

In all, the Hokies finished with five home runs on the day it what was a clutch performance from their hitters. Other than Biddison, Gavin Cross, Tanner Schoebel and Cade Hunter each had one home run apiece. Three of those came within the first three innings.

Drue Hackenberg got the start at pitcher for the Hokies and did 2.2 innings of work before he was taken out of the game. Jonah Hurney later entered in the fourth inning, going on to pitch four innings and strike out seven to earn the win. He improved his season record to 6-1.

The Super Regional between Oklahoma and Virginia Tech was one of four with Game 2 taking place on Saturday. The only other final so far from the day is Texas beating ECU 9-8 to force a Game 3. Tennessee currently holds an eight-run lead over Notre Dame in the top of the eighth, so that Super Regional appears headed toward a Game 3 as well.

Texas A&M and Louisville are also facing off in a Game 2 in College Station. If the Aggies win, they could be the first team to punch their ticket to the CWS.
