StateFarm Champions Classic announces blueblood matchups for 2025
Before the tip-off of the Champions Classic in 2024, the 2025 Champions Classic is on the schedule.
Per a release this morning, the Champions Classic will take place on November 18, 2025 at Madison Square Garden.
“ESPN Events’ State Farm Champions Classic season-opening men’s college basketball event featuring Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Michigan State will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 18, 2025,” the release read.
2025 will be the 15th year of the event that features Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and Michigan State at the start of each season. This will also be the return of the classic to where it began in The Mecca after it also has been held in Chicago and Atlanta.
The 2024 Champions Classic is three weeks from today as the most notable event to start the season in collegiate basketball. No. 1 Kansas vs. Michigan State will start the night at 6:30 p.m. before a Top-25 matchup between No. 7 Duke and No. 23 Kentucky. Both times are eastern with the games being at State Farm Arena from the ATL and all airing that night on ESPN.
Through 13 years going into this season’s games, Duke and Kansas have a tie for the best record in the event at 8-5. Kentucky and Michigan State are then tied for worst at 5-8.

This will be the third straight year that the Champions Classic won’t be back in New York City. However, it’s officially returning to start next season with Duke vs. Kansas and Kentucky vs. Michigan State inside MSG.
