Upsets plague lower national seeds
It didn’t take long for the action to heat up in the NCAA Regionals, with multiple national seeds going down in the opening round of action.
Arkansas was perhaps the most prominent top seed to go down, especially because of how it happened. The Razorbacks pummeled Southeast Missouri 17-9 in the opener of the regional before tripping up against Kansas State in a tight 7-6 contest and then falling to Southeast Missouri 6-3 in an elimination game just prior to the regional final.
But the Hogs were far from the only national seed to experience some heartbreak in the opening round, failing to reach the NCAA Super Regionals.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arizona, UC Santa Barbara and East Carolina also all lost, leaving the field pretty wide open going forward.
With that said, let’s take a brief look ahead.
A smattering of chalk in the Super Regionals
The thing that sticks out about the Super Regional matchups is how much chalk there was near the top of the bracket. Seven of the top eight seeds reached the Supers. So while there were some upsets, there was also a good deal of taking care of business.
Two of the matchups will include a perfect chalk bracket.
2-seed Kentucky will take on 15-seed Oregon State. Meanwhile, 7-seed Georgia will take on 10-seed NC State.
That should make for some compelling matchups going forward.
