Syracuse safety Jaeden Gould has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Gould totaled 10 tackles during his sophomore season, which was down from his numbers in 2023 when he logged 19 tackles, one PBU, and an interception for the Orange.

Gould was a four-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class out of Bergen Catholic High School, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 294 overall player in his class and No. 28 safety in the cycle.

He originally committed to Nebraska out of high school. During his true freshman season in 2022, Gould appeared in just one game. A collegiate debut was made in a big rivalry game, playing for Nebraska against Oklahoma. He was not able to record any stats before opting to transfer to Syracuse ahead of the 2023 season.

Syracuse finished the 2024 regular season with an impressive 9-3 record, which was capped by a 42-28 upset over Miami during Week 14. They’re set to take on Washington State in the DirecTV Holiday Bowl and the Orange are just over touchdown favorites in what is expected to be a high-scoring affair. The over/under is set at 61.5 points. Kickoff is set for Friday, Dec. 27 at 8 p.m. ET live on FOX.

The portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.

That means roughly 25 percent of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
