Nashville (Tenn.) Antioch On300 offensive tackle Takhyian Whitset tells On3 he has committed to NC State.

The former Purdue verbal also held scholarship offers from the likes of Florida State, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Whitset becomes commit No. 17 for head coach Dave Doeren and his staff in the 2025 cycle. Offensive line coach Garett Tujague was the lead recruiter.

“My relationship with Coach Tujague!” Whitset said of what stands out. “I fell in love with the city, the coaching staff, the program. The fans get loud in the stadium and they send linemen to the NFL.”

On3 tabs Whitset as a four-star recruit, the nation’s No. 20 offensive tackle and No. 238 prospect overall. He took an official visit to NC State last weekend.

“The players,” Whitset said of what else made him feel at home with the Wolfpack. “And I loved my official visit last weekend.”

NC State is putting together one of the top offensive line classes in the ACC as Whitset joins one of the nation’s top centers Isaac Sowells Jr., interior offensive linemen Michael Gibbs and Kage Payne.

Whitset says he plans to be back at NC State for the Duke game.
