Upon his commitment to Ohio State in June of 2023, it was clear that Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair was going to finish as one of the nation’s top prospects in the 2025 cycle.

The in-state gunslinger never wavered in his pledge to the Buckeyes. On Thursday, St. Clair was named the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 4 QB in the final edition of the 2025 On300 rankings. The 6-foot-3.75, 225-pounder continues to look like the potential signal-caller of the future in Columbus.

St. Clair capped off an impressive high school career with 2,536 passing yards and 29 touchdowns as a senior in 2024. That followed a junior campaign that witnessed over 3,000 yards and 37 scores. Bellefontaine won eight games last season.

“St. Clair is a smooth passer with prototypical physical tools that point to one of the higher developmental upsides among quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle. Measured in at 6-foot-3.75, 225 pounds with a 9.5-inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season,” On3’s Charles Power wrote.

“Has smooth and tight mechanics as a passer. Touts an easily replicable release. Consistently throws a tight spiral. Mechanical foundation makes him a naturally accurate passer when his timing is right. Has a good arm and does not have to strain to generate ample velocity on his passes. A standout in the camp setting.”

St. Clair at the top of an elite Ohio State recruiting class

It didn’t take long for St. Clair to commit to Ohio State, as he pulled the trigger less than a month after landing the illustrious offer from the Buckeyes. The decision felt like an easy one for the elite QB.

“The tradition, the quarterback development,” he originally told Lettermen Row upon committing. “Just what’s gonna put me in the best position to go to the NFL.”

From then on, he was a recruiting beacon for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. OSU proceeded to build another elite class that ranks No. 5 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

St. Clair is one of three On300 five-stars headed to Columbus, alongside Houston North Shore cornerback Devin Sanchez and Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic wide receiver Quincy Porter. The OSU class features six top-100 prospects overall, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

“Ohio State is the best place in the country, there’s nothing else like being in Columbus. There’s great people and it’s just a great university,” St. Clair said in June
