Taylen Green explains excitement for matchup vs. Oklahoma State
Last week, Taylen Green made the most of his Arkansas debut. He threw for 229 yards, ran for 88 yards and totaled four touchdowns in the Razorbacks’ resounding 70-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The competition is going to take a big step up this week, though. Arkansas will head to Stillwater to take on No. 16 Oklahoma State on ABC in the Noon ET window, meaning there are sure to be plenty of eyes on Green and the Razorbacks.
The Boise State transfer is ready for the big stage, though. But he also understands the caliber of his upcoming opponent, which is why Green isn’t taking Oklahoma State lightly.
“Oklahoma State is a really great team,” Green said on The Paul Finebaum Show Wednesday. “Really disciplined and really athletic, jumps off the jumps off the film. One thing we’re really focused on is doing our job, doing our 111 and letting the rest take care of itself.

“We’re just excited to be on the road, be the underdog. They’re ranked 16th in the country. It’s a great opportunity to show everybody what we have and just focus on what we have to focus on.”

Oklahoma State is also coming off a big Week 1 victory, handling South Dakota State with ease en route to a 44-20 victory. Heisman Trophy contender Ollie Gordon II had a huge game with 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns to help lead that charge.
Taylen Green: ABC games are ‘one of the reasons why you come to the University of Arkansas’
Arkansas’ matchup with Oklahoma State is the first of three games on ABC for Week 2. But after playing on ESPNU last week against Pine Bluff, the Razorbacks will look to showcase their new-look offense on over-the-air television for the first time.
Green said that extra attention adds to the big-time feel of the game. He also pointed out the impact that can have on the recruiting trail, as well.
“This is one of the reasons why you come to the University of Arkansas is to play on ABC, playing the big games,” Green said. “Whether it’s 11:00, whether it’s 3:00, whether it’s at night, Coach Pitt’s saying just roll the ball down and play ball. Let our toughness – mental and physical – toughness be present. That’s what I’m excited about, just the opportunity to be on ABC in primetime and with a great opponent.”
