Emotions were high for TCU coach Sonny Dykes as he faced his former school, SMU, on Saturday, and they ultimately got the best of him. He was ejected after receiving back-to-back unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Dykes was unapologetic as he was escorted off the field, pumping his fists at the crowd as they jeered at him. His Horned Frogs trailed the Mustangs by a score of 41-21 at the time, and you can view the moment below.

Dykes coached SMU for five seasons from 2017-22. He directed the Mustangs to a 30-18 record and two bowl appearances over that span.

The coach had previously won both matchups against his former team since he left SMU for TCU in 2022. However, things are looking bleak for the Horned Frogs at the moment as they currently trail 59-28 with under two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Quarterback Kevin Jennings has paced the Mustangs as he has gone 13-of-17 passing for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Brashard Smith also has 91 yards rushing and a pair of scores.

TCU has a big hill to climb if it hopes to come back for the win, and it is only made more challenge with the absence of its coach.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson trolls TCU with t-shirt ahead of Iron Skillet Game

This Saturday the SMU Mustangs and TCU Horned Frogs will renew their rivalry and compete in the Battle for the Iron Skillet. It’s a fierce local rivalry that has started to spill off the field and all the way into local politics.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is excited for the game, having worn a shirt to troll TCU. It was printed in SMU’s colors with large lettering that reads, “TCU Sucks.” He didn’t just wear that shirt anywhere, either he did so at a city council meeting.

You can look at an image of Eric Johnson wearing the shirt ahead of the SMU-TCU game on Saturday, here:
