TCU to host Super Regional against Indiana State due to 'logistical issues'
Unfortunate news came in for the Indiana State baseball program on Monday, even after enjoying success on the diamond over the weekend.
TCU will host the upcoming Super Regional in Fort Worth. Logistical issues are holding Terre Haute from bringing in the Horned Frogs with a trip to Omaha and the College World Series on the line. While the Sycamores were able to host a regional, they cannot do the same moving forward.
Indiana State released a statement on the situation, saying there were not enough hotels in the surrounding area for the Horned Frogs. Personnel was going to be limited as well, with the Special Olympics being in Terre Haute.
“There are a variety of factors that come into play with the competition for resources and staff,” the statement said. “With the potential for multiple large-scale events occurring in the area simultaneously and due to NCAA limitations on hotel distance from the field, there is a lack of hotel space to handle the accommodations required to house the visiting team, the support staff for games, and the ESPN production crew that would be in attendance.”
Despite not being a national seed, TCU will now get to play games in front of their home fans. Indiana State was given the opportunity to host a regional as the 14-seed. Iowa, North Carolina, and Wright State all came to Terre Haute and played at Bob Warn Field.

Considering who was on the other side of the bracket, the Sycamores never really expected to host a Super Regional. Arkansas was considered the favorite coming out of the Fayetteville Regional but fell twice to TCU on Sunday and then again on Monday afternoon.
Had Arkansas advanced out, Indiana State would have headed to Fayetteville. Instead, they will be flying into Cowtown and playing in front of a lively Fort Worth crowd.
All hope is not lost, though. TCU was not truly consistent over three-game series at home. The Horned Frogs only won five of eight series at Charlie and Marie Lupton Baseball Stadium & Williams-Reilly Field. Two were against nonconference opponents as well, with Florida State and UNC-Wilmington winning on the road.
Of course, location of Super Regional matchups does matter. However, Indiana State has advanced out of a regional for just the second time in program history. They will be hoping this Super Regional will go as well as it did during the 1986 season and the Sycamores can head to the College World Series once again.
