TCU making noise on the recruiting trail under Sonny Dykes
The TCU Horned Frogs are making early noise on the recruiting trail under first year head coach Sonny Dykes.
After inking the No. 38-ranked class in February headlined by 5-star wide receiver Jordan Hudson, TCU has designs on a top 20 class in the 2023 cycle.
Dykes, the coaching staff and Director of Recruiting Bryan Carrington have the Horned Frogs off to a fast start with seven commitments. The headliner is On300 physical wide receiver Cordale Russell. Beating out Texas Tech for Russell was a momentum grabbing win May 14.
Up next will be a month of June that will include official visits from a half dozen members of the On300.
Rueben Owens will hit campus this weekend
On3 Consensus No. 2-ranked running back Rueben Owens will make an official visit to TCU this weekend. The Horned Frogs are recruiting for positioning here with Texas A&M and Texas the heavy favorites to land the talented playmaker.
TCU getting Owens on campus for an official visit comes two weeks after the staff got Markis Deal in for an official visit. A sign that TCU will be competing for the best prospects in the Lone Star State on an annual basis. TCU is very much in the race for Deal along with Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Georgia and a couple of others. There is an expecation that Deal will stay close to home at the end of the day.
TCU also had On3 Consensus 3-star IOL Andre Cojoe on campus for an official May 13. TCU is battling Texas and Baylor for the DFW area prospect.
June 9-11 will be a big weekend in Fort Worth
TCU commitment Cordale Russell headlines a key official visit weekend June 9-11. The list of official visitors includes two On300 members and a 4-star versatile running back.
On300 No. 290 Avion Carter is scheduled to be in Fort Worth in two weeks. TCU is in a battle with Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and possibly Texas for the 6-foot-4, 255-pounder. The only out of state campus Carter was on this spring was Oklahoma State.
