Temple has hired former Arkansas cornerbacks Dominique Bowman for the same role, according to The Athletic‘s Chris Vannini. It will be the third stop for Bowman in as many seasons.

Bowman spent this past season with the Razorbacks, who dealt with several injuries in their secondary. As a result, they finished last in the SEC in passing defense with 294.7 air yards allowed per game. The Razorbacks finished 7-6 in their third season under Sam Pittman, earning a thrilling 55-53 victory in the Liberty Bowl against Kansas.

Prior to his short stint in Fayetteville, Bowman was the cornerbacks coach at Marshall in 2021. There he helped the Thundering Herd finish as the No. 28 pass defense in the FBS.

It has been a quick journey up the ranks for Bowman, who played for Hugh Freeze at NAIA Lambuth University. He started his coaching career at Cordova (Tenn.) High before making the jump to the college level in 2016 at Division II Arkansas-Monticello as a defensive backs coach.

He then spent two seasons as an assistant head coach and defensive backs coach at UT Martin before heading to Austin Peay as a co-defensive coordinator. Bowman then returned to UT Martin to serve as its co-defensive coordinator before taking the cornerbacks coach job at Marshall.

Dominique Bowman takes over for Jules Montinar at Temple. Montinar recently left to take the cornerbacks job at East Carolina.

The Owls finished with an overall record of 3-9 this past season, including 1-7 in AAC play. They ranked as the No. 24 passing defense in the FBS with 198.6 air yards allowed per game. However, they allowed opponents to score 29.2 points per game, which ranked No. 95 out of 131 teams.

Bowman will get to work preparing the Owls for next season, which begins Sept. 2 against Akron.
