WATCH: Tennessee takes 21-7 lead over Alabama after lengthy replay review
Neyland Stadium was rocking Saturday afternoon as Tennessee took an early lead over Alabama. The Vols then proceeded to extend their lead in the first quarter — but needed a lengthy replay review to do so.
Hendon Hooker completed an 11-yard pass to Jalin Hyatt — his second score of the day — to put Tennessee up 21-7 in the first quarter. But officials decided to review it after it appeared Hyatt wound up going out of bounds without touching the pylon.
After a lengthy review, the call stood. Tennessee remained in the driver’s seat.

Hyatt scored earlier in the game, and that touchdown proved to be a milestone for Hooker. He tied the program’s passing touchdowns record with Heath Shuler, and the second connection with Hyatt wound up putting him atop the all-time list.

Hooker connected with receiver Jalin Hyatt for a 36-yard toss into the end zone to put the pressure on the Crimson Tide.
The hot start saw Hooker complete four of his first five passing attempts for 70 yards, including the touchdown pass. It didn’t stop there either for Hooker or Hyatt, as the Crimson Tide’s subsequent possession went the wrong direction for Bryce Young as they were backed up on their own goal line.
After a punt that didn’t even cross midfield, Hooker and the Volunteers struck again with another 27 passing yards by Hooker and a second touchdown grab for 11 yards by Hyatt — pushing their lead to 21-7 over the number one ranked team in the nation.
