Rivalry week is here and that means the chance for some major upsets in college football. Vanderbilt would like to engineer one against Tennessee, though judging by the early point spread that will be a significant uphill climb.

Tennessee has opened as as a 25.5-point favorite in the annual meeting, according to lines released by FanDuel.

How to watch Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt

Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Channel: SEC Network, FuboTV
Location: Knoxville, Tenn.

The annual rivalry game has typically been pretty lopsided in favor of the Volunteers, but the Commodores had a recent stretch where it won three straight games from 2016-2018.

Vanderbilt will be looking to get back to that level of success, particularly after suffering a 56-0 drubbing in the game a year ago. And that was at home. This trip to Knoxville will prove quite the challenge.

Of course Tennessee is coming off an emotional game against Georgia, so how quickly it can regroup even with the big early point spread will be interesting to see.

That’s where having a veteran quarterback like Joe Milton can help. Milton has been solid this season, throwing for more than 2,200 yards and rushing for more than 300.

His ability to push the ball down the field means you have to defend all areas on the field.

He’s complemented by a strong backfield with three good options in Jaylen Wright, Dylan Sampson and Jabari Small. That trio has combined for more than 1,700 yards rushing this season.

Vanderbilt will be looking to defy the early point spread to pick up its only conference win of the season in the final chance to do so. The Commodores have the luxury of coming off a bye week going into rivalry week, while the Volunteers are coming off a very tough game.

Still, there’s a significant talent advantage in favor of Tennessee.

The Commodores will need quarterback Ken Seals to be on point. Receiver Will Sheppard has been the go-to top target, but London Humphreys and Jaden McGowan have also contributed quite a bit this season.
