Texas 3-star LB Ty Kana decommits from USC
Katy (Texas) High three-star linebacker Ty Kana decommitted from USC, making the announcement on Twitter.
Kana cited the firing of Clay Helton and other schools recruiting him as his reasoning for backing out of his commitment.
“Due to the recent coaching changes at USC and interests from other schools, I am officially re-opening my recruitment,” Kana wrote.
Kana originally committed to the Trojans on Feb. 20 and was the fifth member of the 2022 class to commit to the program.
His other offers include Baylor, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma State, SMU, UNLV, Virginia Tech, Washington and Washington State.

It has been an interesting few weeks since Helton was fired from the Trojans on the recruiting trail.
USC quarterback commit Devin Brown picked up offers from Ole Miss, Texas and UCLA. He then went on visits to Ole Miss and UCLA. Columbus (Ga.) Hardaway five-star defensive lineman Mykel Williams flipped from the Trojans to Georgia. And now Kana has decommitted.
The coaching change has clearly played a part in recruits thinking differently about USC, which was expected. Part of Donte Williams‘ job as interim head coach is to make sure he keeps as much of the class together as possible.
He has done a solid job so far but there is still a way to go to signing day.
