Texas A&M trending to land 2026 4-star RB Jonathan Hatton Jr.
On Dec. 2, San Antonio Steele four-star running back Jonathan Hatton Jr. announced his decommitment from Oklahoma. Quickly, Texas A&M has picked up momentum with the 5-foot-11.5, 195-pounder.
This month has seen three picks logged in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine in favor of Mike Elko and Co. landing Hatton. The Aggies now have a 97% edge and look to be in the driver’s seat to add another top recruit to a budding recruiting class.
“I’ve been thinking about this for a little while, but I wanted to make sure I didn’t rush my decision,” Hatton told On3’s Chad Simmons about his decision to decommit from OU. “The main reason I decommitted was to make sure I’m putting myself in the best possible position to be successful.”
Hatton made his way to College Station three times this fall, and he told Simmons that the Aggies were currently at the top now that his recruitment is back open.
“I’m going to go through the process, but out of my top schools is Texas A&M,” he said. “From coach Elko to coach (Collin) Klein and of course Coach (Trooper Taylor), they have set the bar high and made it clear what the plan is for me in what they are building.”
Hatton is eying a new decision around the spring or summer of 2025. He is the No. 55 overall prospect and No. 5 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Texas A&M building impressive 2026 class thus far
Recruiting in the junior cycle has already treated Elko and his staff well. The Aggies already have eight commits and the No. 3 class in 2026, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
An Oct. 27 win over LSU led to a trio of blue-chip commitments from Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory, Douglas County four-star EDGE Jordan Carter and Carson (Calif.) Leuzinger four-star linebacker Samu Moala. Both Gregory and Carter are top-50 overall recruits.
Earlier that month, Provo (Utah) Corner Canyon four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga committed. He is the No. 8 QB in the cycle and high school teammates with new A&M five-star WR signee Jerome Myles. North Duplin (N.C.) four-star defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin also pledged in October.
Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star tight end Xavier Tiller soon followed at the beginning of November. He is the No. 104 recruit and No. 6 TE in the cycle. Rounding out the class is a pair of in-state defensive backs in Mesquite North Forney three-star cornerback Ryan Gilbert and Mesquite Ford three-star safety Markel Ford.
