Texas A&M in the top five for Tennessee ATH Max Carroll
2023 Eads (Tenn.) Briarcrest Christian three-star athlete Max Carroll landed an offer from Texas A&M back in the spring, and made his first trip to College Station earlier this week to camp in front of the staff. Coming out of the camp, the rising senior is down to five schools and Texas A&M remains in the mix, along with Michigan, TCU, Vanderbilt and Alabama State.
Carroll camped at Texas A&M on Thursday, working out at linebacker with linebackers coach Tyler Santucci. Standing 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Carroll has the frame for linebacker, but is versatile enough to play wide receiver or safety as well. Given the staff’s desire for athleticism at the linebacker position, Carroll’s best fit in the Aggies’ defense is inside the box.
Michigan and TCU are the latest schools to offer Carroll, with the Horned Frogs offering the three-star after he visited earlier this week and the Wolverines extending an offer just one day before Carroll announced his top five.
Of the schools in his top five, he’s yet to visit Michigan and Alabama State, but that will likely change as he now turns his attention to scheduling official visits and cutting down his list down to one.
Carroll previously told On3 that distance could play a factor in his recruitment long-term. But as of now, he’s taking things as they come.

“I want to stay a little closer to my family so that I can get home for breaks and stuff,” Carroll previously told On3. “Whatever feels like home. You’ve got to take the opportunity. If it feels right, it feels right. If that’s in the state of Tennessee, that’s great. The right choice is the right choice.”
Coming off visits to TCU and Texas A&M this past week, Carroll is set to make an official visit to Vanderbilt next weekend. As it stands, the Commodores are the school to beat in his recruitment with a 64.2% chance to land the versatile athlete, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Carroll ranks as the No. 447 overall recruit and the No. 23 athlete in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The three-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $13.3K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
