Texas A&M infielder Jett Johnson enters NCAA transfer portal
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Texas A&M infielder Jett Johnson has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Johnson just wrapped up his freshman season and after Jim Schlossnagle decided to leave the program, the search for a new home has begun.
There were not too many opportunities for Johnson to get on the field during the 2024 season. He made just 13 appearances as a hitter, earning 16 at-bats and starting three games. Johnson finished with an average of .188 due to three hits, one of which was a double.

An area where Johnson excelled was working pitchers, though. His limited playing time still resulted in walking five walks while striking out just six times. Not too bad for a freshman going up against college pitching for the first time in his life.
Texas A&M did use Johnson out of the bullpen too, occurring twice. Results were not great, though. Johnson pitched 2.0 innings, giving up six earned runs on six hits, two walks, and only two strikeouts.
Johnson is originally from the state of Texas but finished his high school career out in the Knoxville, TN, area. According to his official 2024 Texas A&M profile, Johnson was ranked the No. 180 overall prospect in the country and No. 9 third baseman by Perfect Game.
He is now available on the open market, looking to play the next two to three years of college baseball elsewhere.

Texas A&M outfielder Caden Sorrell entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He spent just one season with the program.
The portal exodus continued with Sorrell after head coach Jim Schlossnagle left for Texas this week. Sorrell wasn’t the first freshman to enter the portal either.
Sorrell played in 61 games this season and registered 178 at-bats. He had a .275 batting average, 11 home runs, 42 RBI, 49 hits, seven doubles, five triples, nine stolen bases and had 24 walks.
