Texas A&M pitcher Brett Antolick has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He made four appearances as a freshman this past season.

Antolick made one start during his lone season in College Station. All told, during his four outings, he threw 4.2 innings and recorded one strikeout in his collegiate debut against Wagner.

Antolick arrived at Texas A&M as the No. 340 overall recruit from the 2023 class, according to Perfect Game. He was also the No. 5-rated right-handed pitcher in the state of Pennsylvania.

Texas A&M has been hit hard by the transfer portal since Jim Schlossnagle’s departure following the College World Series final. The Aggies saw more than 11 players hit the open market after the head coach left for Texas, and the window is still open until July 2.

Multiple stars from this year’s national runner-up team entered the portal this week, including SEC Freshman of the Year Gavin Grahovac and star outfielder Jace LaViolette. They are also the top two players in On3’s College Baseball Transfer Portal Rankings.

As for what’s next for Texas A&M, the Aggies reportedly will have a “war chest” ready to make a new hire, according to D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers. New athletics director Trev Alberts could also act quickly to replace Schlossnagle, who had a 135-62 record over three years with the Aggies.

“Based on what I’m hearing, I think I’d be really surprised if they don’t have a new head coach by Saturday,” Rogers told TexAgs. “It’s moving very fast. My educated guess would be today is a very busy day on the coaching search front. By Saturday or Sunday morning, I think they have a new baseball coach.”

Who could be on Texas A&M’s shortlist?

One potential candidate who’s reportedly off the board is Brian O’Connor. The Virginia head coach is expected to stay in Charlottesville, according to The Daily Progress’ Greg Madia, after coming up as an option as Texas A&M works through its coaching search.

As for who else could be on the shortlist, Rogers suggested Texas A&M could go big game hunting. That could include calling the coach who just beat the Aggies in the CWS final, although it doesn’t sound like he’ll leave Tennessee.

“He’s not leaving, but you’ve got to call Tony Vitello, he’s got Aggies in his family,” Rogers continued. “You’ve got to at least call and be like, ‘Hey, any interest?’ From there, the other people I would at least take a gander at would be Kevin O’Sullivan. He’s made it abundantly clear that Florida needs some help on NIL fronts. Like, he made it very clear. He’s a guy that if he went to A&M, he would have a lot of NIL money from what I’m hearing — a lot of money.

“So I think there are coaches out there at an elite level that I think would have a pretty decent shot with.”
