Texas A&M transfer OL Colton Thomasson commits to Baylor
The Baylor Bears have landed a commitment from a talented offensive lineman out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. On Monday, Colton Thomasson took to social media to announce that he has officially committed to playing for Baylor and head coach Dave Aranda in 2024.

Thomasson started out his collegiate career in Texas at College Station with the Texas A&M Aggies. Early in his recruiting process, it appeared as if there was no other program he had eyes on as he committed to the Aggies early, back in July of 2021, despite being a member of the 2023 recruiting class.
As a member of the 2023 recruiting cycle, Thomasson was a three-star recruit with a recruiting grade of 89 out of Smithson Valley High School, located in the greater San Antonio area. He was the No. 425 overall recruit, No. 31 interior offensive lineman, and No. 73 ranked player from the state of Texas in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Baylor loses offensive lineman to transfer portal
The addition of Thomasson helps offset the loss of offensive lineman Bryce Simpson, who recently left the program and entered the NCAA transfer portal. He spent the past two seasons with the Bears but will now look elsewhere to continue his college career.

Simpson redshirted his true freshman season in 2022 after committing to Baylor as a three-star prospect out of Cy Ranch High School in Cypress, Texas. He ranked as the No. 953 overall player and No. 72 offensive tackle in the 2022 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Standing 6-foot-5 and 304 pounds, Simpson has the size needed to contribute as a tackle wherever he decides to transfer. Although he wasn’t able to find many opportunities at Baylor, he still has plenty of time to make the most of his remaining eligibility.
Bryce Simpson wass the fourth Baylor offensive lineman to enter the transfer portal this offseason, according to On3’s Team Transfer Portal Rankings.
